Moving Right along!

It’s week three of the One Room Challenge sponsored by Better Homes and Gardens. The tile is in and looks beautiful. There is a recurring vertical theme in this bath. The wall and shower tile is vertical, the shower niche is long and vertical, the mosaic tile is vertical. The custom cabinet (shown in a photo below) is also long and vertical. This theme really makes the bath feel taller. This is a smallish bath, so anything that adds the feeling of space is a good idea!

Fixtures and storage….

I have decided on polished chrome fixturing. It is a classic and economic choice for a kids’ bath. I am usually a gold fixture girl, but I think the cool tone of the chrome looks more appropriate in this scenario. I chose Delta shower fixtures and my sink faucet is “Nuvo Fusion” by Kingston Brass. I opted to spend the extra money to install a frameless glass shower door to keep the space open and airy. I am sure my kids will really appreciate it (ha ha!).

Now check out the custom cabinetry to the right of the shower! My amazing carpenter didn’t cut any corners here. This offers much needed open and closed storage space. I have painted the cabinet “Very Navy” by Behr. I then decided to paint each of interior shelves a slightly different shade of blue, creating an ombre effect. If I can infuse ombre into a room, I will! I think I might just like to say the word “ombre”. This cabinet also mimmicks another theme in this bathroom, and that is a squared off corner. I used the chain link mosaic tile as the inspiration for the corner detail in this cabinet. These little details really take it from nice to WOW!

and the Vanity…

The vanity I chose is Alcott Hill “Sommer” from Wayfair. It came in a dark blueish gray which did not work with the bathroom at all. I painted the vanity “Very Navy” by Behr and switched the hardware to this beautiful glass hardware from CPK’s Elegance Glass Collection. I chose this particular hardware because it mirrors the clean lines and angular details of the entire bathroom. It was a bit of a splurge but well worth it. The vanity top is carrera marble (you can’t go wrong with carrera). The photo shows the before and after of the vanity. Amazing transformation! I also decided on trim paint and ceiling paint to be a true white from Benjamin Moore called “White”, OC-151. Phew! Lots getting completed. More to come!
